Zhivago Duncan

United States / Mexico City | * 1980

Through his multidimensional artwork Zhivago Duncan comments on the fraught state of contemporary culture and its obsessions. Crassly quoted and re-created from an irreversibly post-apocalyptic future point of view, it is witnessed by ambigious alter egos who seem to navigate between ominous paranoia, cosmic redemption and latent nostalgia. Using the curious medium of batik or ceramics, his art is inspired by street art, celebrity culture, reality TV and the artificiality of pop party life, Zhigavo Duncan expels energetic swirls from artefacts that seem to have randomly overcome nothing less than the doom of all mankind. His works range from paintings, sculpture and mixed media to substantial installations.
